still working on an unofficial schedule... but loving just having some responsibilities and an actual "job"

Well, so i went to my second middle school today.. and by "went" I mean I walked 40 minutes up the mountain of Saint Maxime. I live right on the beach practically, but Sainte Maxime stretches all the way up these two mountain/ hills behind us. I was all wrapped up in my AWESOME northface jacket and a scarf and my little red hat that Aunt Rhonda and Uncle Matt bought me for Christmas. It's amazing how quickly the weather changed here. So anyways, I got to school , all proud of myself because it was 8:05 and school didn't start til 8:30 so I had plenty of time to find where I was supposed to go and meet the teacher I would be working with for that day. I noted how deserted everything seemed. There wasn't a soul to be found in the courtyard or in the halls or anything.
I met "Monsieur le Proviseur" ( and yes you have to adress him as such- he's the principal guy.. if it was a woman, i would address her as "Madame le Proviseur"). I find out, much to my embarrassment and -at this point- frustration with the lady who has been giving me my schedules, that school does indeed start at 8:00. SO THAT'S WHY EVERYTHING WAS SO DESERTED!- THEY WERE ALL IN CLASS!. So I'm off to my teacher's classroom, but alas, she is not there. I find out she is not coming in today to teach because there is a guest speaker who was coming to talk to her kids. ( on a side note: Most teachers here only teach like 3-4 days a week... and have only lik 20 hours of work a week.. tops) So i spend the rest of the day just observing another teacher's class.
I come home around 1:00 and walk 3 minutes to "centre-ville" where there is an open air market every Friday morning/ afternoon. I paruse the many tents with clothes , shoes, rugs, jewelery until I can hear my stomach growling. So, I run into the Carrefour place ( aka Kroger place) and grab some extra groceries and come home ate sosme yogurt with granola, cheese, and an apple... Look at me being so super healthy! =)
I keep forgetting to tell you bout the apartment and how its all set up.. i promise i will try to do that next time. As for now, Linda just got home, and we are going to go try to make an appointment with SFR to get wifi put into our apt. They MIGHT be closed though... places around here close at 12 and dont open again til like 3:00. The France Telecom guy came out yesterday and put in "phone capabilities".. he was so cute.. he wanted to speak English and I wanted to speak French so.. the French man spoke in English and I responded in French.. I'm sure we were quite a sight! lol
Love to all!

  1. Look at you, getting everything done so promptly!! We slept in some this morning, not a great night for either of us. No biggie! So, you did not ride the bus to this school. Can you, or do only certain buses take students to a certain school? That of course is how it was in Shelby County when I taught. Enjoy your weekend. Hope you have something planned.
Have you had any contact with Deidre since you moved into your apt.?
