Nouveau Appartment!!!

ok so after my bout with my lovely gastritis ( which literally only lasted for 24 hours... granted, they were the worst 24 hours i had experienced in a while... but at least it was short-lived) , we finally moved into our new apartment. We each paid him cash, and he wrote us a receipt so I'm pretty sure it was all on the up and up. And he seriously is the nicest guy. I was telling mom and dad about him.. He and his "woman" ( cause in france , they don't get married normally.. at least not this generation) .. they just got pregnant so they wanted a bigger apartment, so that's why they are renting out this one. Yesterday, he volunteered to come pick us up from Deirdra's house and brought us by the bank first. Today, he made a special trip to make sure we had basic tv connection in our apt. Then, he came out once more cause we couldnt figure out how to lock our door... ( it was a spazz moment for both Linda and Me- we felt dumb afterwards). Anyways, needless to say, we like him. I even suggested we should do dinner one night because their newer, bigger apartment is just like 5 minutes from our house. He is probably in his early 30's.. i guess thay could be crossing the line of "renter/rentee" but oh well... we need friends. =)
So today was spent running errands. We got ALOT done and spent an ungodly amount of money at the "Carrefour" - their version of Kroger. We got food of course and towels, pillows, trash can, bowls, blanket.......I FINALLY BOUGHT A HAIR DRYER AND A STRAIGHTENER!! So all is right with the world.. regarless of the unsurmountable amount of paperwork I have before me. I also got my FRENCH debit card!! WHO HOO!! I'm becoming more and more french by the day. We also got a French Landline ( well, they are coming out thursday morning), so then, starting Friday, we can have someone come out and give us wifi!! As far as thehome aspect goes, things are coming along... the paperwork at school hasnt really progressed but that's mostly because we havent been there since last Tuesday. Hopefully Wednesday, we can turn alot of stuff in.
Tomorrow we arent going to school because we have an appointment with the bank to get "renter's insurance" for our new apartment! I took some pictures of it today.. I'll try to post them tomorrow sometime. It's pretty cute with our little green shutters and our house number on the gate! The weather here is starting to turn. It is still very warm but very windy. I think it will be 65-70 F for the rest of the week so I guess we can't complain. We have yet to don our bathing suits though. Now that we live 2 blocks from the beach, it's a lot more feasible to go swimming, but we just have to find the time! Maybe Wednesday after school we can go.
Alright, well I am off to bed. We are currently "stealing" internet from some unkown source right now. We have to crawl up into our little Mezzanine to get it... Next blog, I'll explain to you the set up of our apartment. It's not much, but i think it will work for just the two of us.
Love to all!!!

  1. Sounds like things are moving right along! And we are thrilled that you are able to "borrow" internet from somewhere. After getting used to seeing you and hearing from you every day, the last couple have been tense, since we knew you were sick. But sounds like you are back to your old self, which relieves us greatly. Keep on keeping on! Be sure to commend yourself on all you are doing. You have every right to be VERY proud of yourself. We certainly are. And people are telling us about the article in the paper, they think it is neat as well, which makes us even more proud, if that is possible:)! Love you lots!! :)MOM

  2. Hey Becca! We have had the CRUD, but ours lasted ten days. I took the little ones to the beach for a few days and upon our return we were all sick. Jane has been the healthiest of the bunch. You will be happy to know she is wearing big girl pants full-time now! Whoo-hoo! Miss you lots, and can't wait to see pics of the new place. BTW- What article in what paper? Would love to see it! -Joanne et al

  3. Keep on doing your thing chica. Looks like you are doing well. Glad you are feeling better and got your apt in working order. Love you lots and want to skype with you sometime soon. I haven't been able to do it since you left. I fly to AZ on Wed morning, so things will be kind of sketch after that. Miss you but know you are rockin' out in France. Lots of love!!! - Big Brother
