So I'm experiencing this new phenomenon due to my incessant walking tours of Ste. Maxime, ..... everytime I sit down after a journey around town or my excursions up the hill to my school on Thurs and Friday, I can feel my pulse beating in my butt. True Story. Hopefully that means i'm walking off some of my ghetto booty ( haha Aaron.. no more calling me J. Lo!!!). No but seriously, it feels really weird.
Today is "French Day" for Linda and me. I know, I know that may seem a little unnecessary seeing as how every day should be "French Day" due to the fact that we do indeed live in France... but we tend to speak English when we are at our house, so we have designated every Wednesday and Sunday to be "French ONLY" days. So far we have succeeded in carrying that out about 80% of the time. It's good cause we usually are pretty good at correcting eachother on our errors. We say that we make the perfect team because she understands French better than I do, but I can speak French more easily than she can .. so together we are invincible. =)
We went to go get our wifi set up...They told us we have to wait TEN days , and after TEN days, i will receive a text message letting me know my box is ready to be picked up. And you would think I would pick it up from the same store I ordered it from but OH NO.. I have to go to another store down the road and get it from THEM.. and then attempt to set it up on my own. Dude assured me it was "tres facile" but, knowing my capabilities with technology, im not so sure. He suggested to me. of course, that I could always schedule an appointment to have someone come out and help me set it up.. but who knows how long I'd have to wait for that to happen.. Thank Goodness for belkin54g from whom we are stealing internet..........oh yeah and one more catch... in ten days, we won't even be here.. hopefully we will be in Normandy enjoying our first vacation. lol oh the irony.
Tomorrow is going to be "Laundry Day". I have been here for what? almost exactly three weeks and have yet to do laundry. Surprisingly ( props to my awesome packing capabilities) I still have some clean clothes left but I need to wash my towels especially. I went to go buy laundry detergent today at the store, AND it wasn't until I walked into steel gates that I remembered NOTHING is open on Sundays in France.. nothing. NOT A THING. So, I'll do that tomorrow. I did however, venture into town to price laundry mats and Oh Dear, they are expensive. I resolve here and now to wash as much as I can in our kitchen sink and hang them out to dry ( that's another thing... IF the french own a washing machine in their house, 9 times out of 10, they DO NOT own a dryer- clothing lines are very popular here- good thing I bought one on out first trip to the grocery store). There is something just very charming about the French way of life... no rush, no hurry, just come QT with friends and a glass of wine, .. .. and no Customer Service .. hehe.
I think Elena (Italian Assistant) and Miguel (Spanish Assistant) are going to come over tonight to "hang". We might go grab a drink in one of the restuarants around here that i have yet try (which should be pretty easy seeing as how we havent been to a single one). They each live alone, so we are definately going to try to have them over alot. Plus, it works out perfectly because our only common language is French. so it fits in perfectly with "French Day"
Ok well I'm off to the beach to soak up some of the last days of warmer weather. Im in a tshirt and jeans.. nothing too beachy. but I have MY TWILIGHT (French Version) book in hand, so I am ready to go! Love to all!!! gros bisous!

Haha I have had the same sensation you describe about feeling your pulse in strange places!! It happens every time I walk in Europe, because it's about 10x more walking than I ever do!
RépondreSupprimerHave you tried to speak Spanish with this Miguel guy? You don't ONLY have French in common! :) Come on, Becca, trill those RRRRRs!
I am reading the Twilight books for the second time, but in English. I envy you sitting on the beach reading the French version! Is the title the same, or is it called something else en francais? Tu me manques!
lol.. come one catherine, lets not kid ourselves.. i didnt REALLY learn spanish.. except for "gracias a la vida... que me hay dado tanto" =) hehe. And the french titles ARE different. they are much more suggestive: Tentation, Hesitation, Fascination,, and something else... ahhhh Tu me manques aussi!!!!
RépondreSupprimerDitto on what Catherine said ab the pulse thing. That must be a good thing, right? Now you know that your blood pressure is really working. I totally agree that french life is very nice. I wonder if we ever live close to one another if we could have french days :) that would be delightful. good luck on your internet and I hope whoever you are stealing from never realizes haha. I bet they won't. Funny story. While I was in France, my roommate and I had to steal internet from someone in our apt complex but it was only available during certain times. So when we would get home from school, we would rush to our laptops and do as much work as we could before it was turned off. needless to say weekends were much easier on us since we didn't have school. Love you and love hearing from you on the blog.
