home again home again jiggitty jig

That title is especially for Gigi who used to always say that to me.

Ok so ..... finally have arrived back home safe and sound after an AMAZING 10 days out exploring uncharted France (well for me, at least). I think I'm slowly coming to the realization that if I am going to see every part of Framce that I want to see, it very well may take me every single 2 week vacation that I am given.

Let's see... where did I leave off last? I think I had just gotten back from Mont St. Michel. Well, the very next day, we went out to this fortified city that was built in the 10th century I think called St. Malo. There was very little "touristy things" to do other than walk around on the "ramparts" which surrounded the inner city. That was very cool, and I got some great pictures because we were practically on the English Channel and there were some cool cliffs around that area.

The very next morning, we all went our seperate ways. I went to Bayeux, Linda came home to St. Maxime, and the Australian girl (named Meng by the way) went on to Reims. Once I got into Bayeux, I got a budget hotel and dropped my things off in ten minutes flat. I had places to go and only 7 hours of daylight left to see them in!! I headed straight for my top priority: the Bayeux Tapestry!!! It was magnificent and so full of history-I'm very glad i ended up going. . . I got some greta pictures of the tapestry ( although the signs indicated no flash photgraphy and no one ELSE seemed to be taking pictures... but I turned my flash off and took pictures anyways!!!)

After the Bayeux Tapestry, I ended up going to a WWII war memorial and cemetery. And since that day happened to be the night before All Saints day ( France's more reverant version of our Halloween when they honor their dead), it was an extremely moving experience. I finished off the evening by enjoying an early dinner by myself lol which I actually thoroughly enjoyed after having spent 9 straight days running. I stopped by the Cathedral on the way home ( which is where the Bayeux Tapestry used to be hung once a year on the anniversary of the Battle of Hastings)

Which brings us to today. I got home, made a friend on the bus ride home and spoke more french with her, and got home to find out that WE HAVE WIFI now!!! So, thoroughly pleased now because I spent almost two hours talking with Erin on Skype after having not seen his face for 10 days, I am bout to go to bed without even unpacking- which, for those of you who know me REAL well, is a total sacrifice and says tremendous things about how exhausted I am.

Here's to a very uneventful next few days of washing my laundry in the sink ( we bought actual detergent this time) and starting my SECOND twilight book in French. Love to all!!!

  3. Becca, Have you tried laying your freshly washed clothing on a bath towel then rolling it up before you hang it to dry? This will help absorb the excess water. I often will go ahead and hang on hangers and put in a doorway. This helps the air circulate around the clothing better. If it's near a window with sunshine- even better! You might want to check out Martha Stewart's site for tips on hand washing. XXXX -J.
