So that holiday we celebrated yesterday was Armistice Day, the day France signed a treaty with Germany during WWI .. apparently only France observes this holiday now. Go figure. Everyone else now calls it Veterans Day.
Well Linda and I and two other assistants celebrated Armistice Day in style by "going out" in St. Raphael. . . . I was home by 730, but hey, it was a good time. We walked along the "market" of local goods sold in and around the French Riviera, I ate Mussels ( and who knew I liked mussels? not me, but I DO.. I love them!! The whole kilo that I ate of them), and I celebrated getting my first paycheck by buying a few fun things for myself: hand-made soap, a polka dot coffee mug, a polka dot hair thing to use to hold my hair back while I'm washing my hair, AND the third installment of Twilight!!
This weekend is Linda's birthday. I'm already saying a little prayer that she doesn't end up in the hospital like I WAS on MY BIRTHDAY! Mostly because I would never wish that upon anyone but also because we have some pretty exciting plans for this weekend. Saturday, we are going to Nice, France to hang out with some fellow assistants. Then, we are coming back Sunday because there is an Olive Oil Festival in Ste. Maxime that we want to go to. So, Elena and Miguel are coming over to go with us, and then I think we are gonna have dinner here at our house. Should be fun. Monday, I have to hunt down a doctor and get him to sign a sheet a paper for me, so I can send it into my medical insurance people. They sent me something about a week ago saying my paperwork was incomplete... sigh... oh goodness.
And I think I can start applying for Governmental Aide for rent. Its called the CAF, and they give assistants money to help pay for rent. I think it will take til prob January to get any money, but any little bit helps.
Tomorrow I am going to two different schools. I finally get to meet one group of students for the first time. I go out to one school only EVERY OTHER friday, and the last time I was supposed to meet them was when Ste. Maxime had massive flooding, and I was unable to get to school. Lol.. ok well WISH ME LUCK!! love to all!! Gros Bisous!
