rough week, but an exciting one nonetheless.
I went to work Wednesday and Thursday, but then stayed home again on Friday. Comparatively, I am feeling much better, but I still have some congestion in my chest that I just can't seem to get rid of. It's always worse in the mornings though, so hopefully it will be gone again by the end of today.
Friday night, the Spanish teacher at the high shcool took a group of about 30 teachers and students to see an opera in Toulon. The opera was called Carmen... It was pretty good, but then again, seeing as how that was my first opera, I don't have much to compare it to. It was burning up in the theatre (cause we had nose-bleed seats), but Linda, Elena and I all had a really great time... Thankfully, the words to the song were actually projected on to a screen right above the stage, so we could follow what was going on in the songs. We might have made fun of a few characters now and again, but .... who woulndt when there seems to be a competition among the characters ti see who can sing the word "love" the most times and for the longest (hitting every note on the scale?) lol. The opera was 3.5 hours so we didnt get back home til like 1 am on Saturday morning. That was the latest i have been out in a while.
At 9am on Saturday, I woke up to finish cleaning the house and to start cooking our delicious Thanksgiving meal. I made a Turkey, ham, and cheese casserole. It was actually very yummy. I had to cook the turkey on the skillet, then boil noodles, and make a milk/flour/cheese sauce and add some ham... stir it all together, top it with bread crumbs, and bake for 35 minutes. =) Look at me becoming such a cook! Seriously, though, Linda has actually been very helpful in that area with me. She has taught me some and gives me some encouragement to cook meats ( something Ive always been terrified to do ) I guess when there are no fast foods around here, and restaurants cost roughly 20 dollars a meal, you have to learn how to be creative and cook decent meals for yourself. Noodles get old real fast. My next goal: hamburger meat something or other.
At 1pm, everyone showed up. We had 3 Spanish, 1 Brazilian, 4 Americans, and 1 Italian show up for Thanksgiving dinner lol. It was definately the most international Thanksgiving I have ever had. We ate my casserole, Lasagna, green beans, bread, and tuna stuff that went on the bread. And about 10 bottles of wine lol. And a cake. Miguel brought his guitar so we listened to him play some songs and then watched random videos on YouTube. It was fun. The last person left around 8:45.
Today it's kinda rainy. I have every intention on just staying inside today and reading. Tomorrow, I think we are going to try to go submit paperwork for our aid from the government. Oh i know what i can do today: take pictures of our apartment !! I wish i could figure out a way to post pictures directly onto the blog. I think there is a way, but i havent figured it out yet!

RépondreSupprimerYou should be able to post pictures when you type an update. There is a button somewhere that says "insert picture" or something like that. I did it when I wrote my France blog, so it should still be there! :) I'm going to think of some good foods you could make with French stuff... and I'll get back to you.
