Greve day

Yesterday was what France likes to call "Greve" day. (a.k.a. Go on Strike Day). Only for teachers, though. Bus drivers, Nurses, etc... They all have their own strike days. Sometimes multiple ones throughout the year. Sometimes just because they are bored, I don't know. I think going on strike for the French is kinda like a hobby. See? Look at how much cultural knowledge I am spreading to all of you =) Just kidding.

I, myself, might have been considered a "grevist" because I did NOT go to school yesterday. I was home, in bed, sick. Remember how I mentioned how the cat threw my allergies for a loop? Well, It got worse on Sunday. On Sunday, we WERE successful in going to Cannes... before realizing that it was indeed a Sunday and NOTHING would be open. (except for the Movie Theatre- that was open- and I got to see the much -anticipated Twilight movie with French subtitles) However in Cannes, it's probably best that nothing was open.. Strolling down the main street in Cannes, Boulevard de Croisette, one would find shops such as Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Prada, Jimmy Choo, Burberry, etc. In summary, they are shops that I, personally, would feel guilty even entering because I know the shop keepers would stare me up and down like I was crazy because I'm sure it is perfectly obvious to them that i could not afford even a pair of socks in those stores. BUUUTTT... it sure is fun window shopping.

ACTUALLY, for those of you who have Facebook, I am uploading a picture of a purse that I saw in a shop window. When I saw this purse, I absolutely fell in love. It is one of the most exquisite purses I have ever seen in my entire life. Well, in France, everything that is displayed in a shop window also come with a small sign in front, labelling and detailing the price of every item that is found on the mannequin. After I finished admiring said exquisite purse, I look down at the tiny plaque in the window to see how much this purse cost........ 14,000 ish euros!!!! That is roughly 21, 000 dollars!!! Who needs a down payments on a house (or .. lol... a years worth of beginning teachers salary ) when you can buy a 21, 000 dollar purse? Mom? Dad? Erin? You knwo what to get me for Christmas! =) I'll get that picture posted ASAP.

As far as my health is concerned, I am feeling somewhat better. Like I said, I was actually pretty pathetic in Cannes... I couldnt wait to get home. BUT, a whole box of tissues and 4 rolls of toilet paper later, I think I am slowly coming out of it. I went to school today and taught. We talked about Thanksgiving which (sniff) i will be missing out on this year. I think Mom and Dad should set up their laptop at the kitchen table and have me on Skype... so I can be a "part" of Thanksgiving Lunch =) Linda and I, actually, are hosting a "Thanksgiving dinner" at our house on Saturday. I think there will be roughly 7 people here... Americans, British, Italian, and Spanish. Hopefully that will come through!

Alright, well ... we rented "Breakfast at Tiffany's" from the "mediatheque" here... so i think I am bout to go downstairs and cook dinner and snuggle up on our NEW COUCH!! ( "new" being a relative word, but at least we finally have one) and watch a movie!! Love to all!! Gros bisous!

P.S. I HAVE TEN FOLLOWERS!!!! WHO HOOOOOOOO!!! LOOK HOW COOL I AM BECOMING!
