First off, i feel like Im being such a baby... 5 months doesnt even seem that long. but here goes:
YOU KNOW YOUVE BEEN IN FRANCE FOR 5 MONTHS IF:
1. you've gone through three pairs of boots... all of which were dorn down to threads when you threw them away.
2. You were reminded daily of the poor condition of your boots , not because your feet were cold (ok well maybe that too)but because you have to walk with your head down, staring at your feet, in order to avoid stepping in any dog caca.
3. You also walk with your head down in order to prevent yourself from smiling at strangers... which is a big no no in France.
4. When traveling about Europe, you look to your father and say, " i can't wait to get back home so I can actually understand what is going on"... and you DONT mean the USA- you meant France.
5. You go to the grocery store daily... in order to avoid having to carry with you 10 reusable grocery bags and having to bag a weeks worth of groceries yourself.
6. You talk about going home to "see" your fiance ...... on SKYPE.
7. You consider taking a "weekend trip" to Ireland.
8. You feel guilty watching TV shows in English.
9. You have bought a different kind of cheese every week (and a different kind of yogurt for that matter)since the first week you got to France, and you STILL havent tried all that the grocery store has to offer.
10. You forget what Peter Griffin's, Marge Simpson's, Rachel and Ross's REAL voices sound like because youve gotten so used to their dubbed over voices.
11. You feel like ANYONE that you hear speaking English is open game for you to try to make friends. "Excuse me, where are you guys from?".. and then you get to be their little mini travel guide and tell them where to go/eat etc. in Ste Maxime.
12. Google popping up in English catches you off guard
13. YOu make sure to check the website for any possible "greves" (strikes) before you plan a big trip
ok so i guess that is all for now. I might add more later as they come to me.
These past few days have actually been very relaxing, and I can honestly say that i enjoy Graham and Linda's company.. i just have to try to block out the cutesy "i love you"'s and such lol. I started Erin's Cross-stitch Stocking yesterday and ive already made a couple of mistakes but i think it is turning out quite nicely. you can almost make out the Christmas tree lol. It's great to have all my yummy food from my care package around. i find that i just eat cause ... well cause it's there and i want to try EVERYTHING that mom sent me. I think I am going to Aix this weekend. I was gonna help a friend switch apartments, but she ended up getting an offer to house sit in Aix.. and this house has a PUPPY!!! SO when she asked if i would be interested in joining her, i definately jumped at the chance. i can't wait for some puppy slobber!!!! And i just love AIX.
Im sure you gathered that Dad is back home, .... last i heard he had recuperated fairly well. Erin is really sick right now and he NEVER skips class but he's felt so awful I think he missed more classes in one day from sickness than he has EVER missed from sickness. Poor thing.
Ok well I'm off to teach my last two classes of the day. Were playing grammar Tic Tac Toe. wish me luck! Oh and Aaron, thanks for offering... totally need you to pick me up from BNA on April 24th at 930pm... and then take me to Lycnhburg ??? K Thanks!
Love to all and Gros Bisous!

Very good! I had forgotten that you had said it was not polite to look people in the eye or smile over there. I KNOW that is hard for you since you are such an outgoing person! But you do whatever you can to avoid an argument. I am a lot like that. I HATE confrontation.
RépondreSupprimerHope your new boots are breaking in well and that they hold up til you can get back here.
Enjoy the puppy this weekend. Will you take your laptop? Love you lots!-MOM
I love reading your lists like this...they are always very interesting....I know you are super excited about spending time with a puppy this weekend!!! What kind of dog is it? 2 months from tomorrow exactly and you will be on your way home :) love you baby!
RépondreSupprimerSo... I fell asleep on the couch and somehow the TV got programed for one of the two Spanish channels we get and I wake up and for a split second I think I'm back in Europe. How wierd is that? As for the boots.... you know what you've got to do. The word is 'caca'. yes, I said it. If it hasn't already happened... one miss-placed step will do. Love you lots. Dad
RépondreSupprimerGreat list! Are you really thinking about doing a weekend trip to Ireland? Let me know what you end up doing there. Three boots in 5 months is a pretty nice trend (for shoe companies).
RépondreSupprimerI will be happy to pick you up from the airport that night. Looking forward to it! Love you...
