First off- I GOT MY VISA!! Thanks to Dad for going with me on an exhilirating adventure to Atlanta to pick that up.
Ok so i just spent the past week and a half at Erin's house... mostly just twiddling my thumbs. But now I am back and it's go time. I went to the bank about a week ago and ordered my travelers' checks... which may seem kind of outdated, BUT i was told it would be great to have them so I can make an initial deposit into my French bank account ( I'm gonna have a French bank account - eek!! - that just SOUNDS cool- like i will REALLY be french for a minute). I also ordered some euros and man, that conversion rates SUCKS.
So I will be flying into Paris on the 28th, and I will be spending two nights there before i hop on the TGV and head south for Nice on the 30th. My only problem is that the Charles de Gaulle airport is way north of Paris, so I am going to have to lug all of my luggage onto the RER ( one of MANY trainlines in France- it all gets pretty confusing to me) and take that into the heart of Paris and THEN find a hotel. Then , on the 30th, i have to go to the Gare de Lyon and take my train to Nice
I went online last night and got an awesome deal on that train ticket. Normally a train from paris to Nice would run you about 100 ish dollars but i found one for 60 ish dollars. All in all, it's a 5 1/2 hour train ride.
I think I have most everything I will need - i bought an AWESOME jacket ( well really, GIGI bought me an AWESOME jacket- Thanks Gigi-) that will keep my warm when i travel anywhere up north, and I am updating my GPS so that I will be able to access maps of France when I'm over there. I also have made a thousand copies of every important document that I am taking over there- official copies of my birth certificate, copies of my visa, passeport, contract, etc etc. Apparently the French LOVE photocopies of stuff.
Now, my only order of business I guess is saying goodbye to everyone. Aaron is throwing me a going away cook out on Saturday night which should be fun! ...
Alright, well until then.... au revoir!

I couldn't be prouder. you got it together, girl. Brains and beauty to boot. It does a father's heart good. Of course, you'll be missed but this Skype thing is really great and will help a lot. I'll even get set-up in front of the computer and give a fiddle concert especially for you if you would like. Right? O.K. I wont. See you tomorrow and Sunday and then off you go. You've got my love always, Dad

I am so amazed at how you have gotten yourself so organized, not only for France, but for the wedding next summer as well. I hope you plan to do a scapbook and journal of yourself during this time so you will have something to refer to when you write a "book" about your experiences later on. I am so excited for you that it is helping me when I begin to worry. Once you get settled in, we will all feel better!!. Love ya and am SO PROUD OF YOU!!!!
