Antibes, Movie NIght, Electricity, ....Oh yeah, and cleaning mold and mildew.AND doing sit ups

So It's actually been a pretty eventful couple of days... well.. as evenful as it can get. But I've rather enjoyed it. I just wish it would be sunny.

Thursday, I went and got my hair cut. In a different salon than my first one. This was my second and last haircut in France before I come home. Lol its funny cause, when im home in the US, i think i go to the hairdresser every eight weeks. Here, its like every 3 months. But, it was because of that that i chose a VERY nice salon. and they treated me like royalty, so ... it was a good experience even if it was crazy expensive. Now, i know my hair will be in great condition for when i come home and get my wedding day consultation. I keep meaning to take pictures of it so you guys can see ,... but its really no different. Just fresh. i swear though, right after the wedding, im chopping it off.

Friday, teaching went really well. I went to the post office to mail a letter to our landlord informing him we would be officially moving out of the apartment at the end of april.I even requested a "receipt" stating that he officially received it. Want to make sure I cover my bases. Then, that night, a teacher and I went to the movies together. We saw Valentine's Day which I had been dying to see because Taylor Swift was in it lol! I was so proud of myself. I think i understood almost 90% of everything that was said. That was he first movie I have seen in a public cinema that was in French. The only other movie i've seen here was New Moon.. when i went to Cannes.. but that was in English. I think it's easier to understand American movies that have been dubbed over in French than it is to understand a 100% french movie. I say that because last night, Linda and I watched a French comedy called "Bienvenue chez les ch'tis" with no subtitles, and although, I certainly followed it, it was ALOT harder to understand. I would say that I only understood like 65 % of what was said. ANYWAYS, Friday night, after the movie, we went to a cafe to get a drink and then,, I came home around 10 and about died. I had a headache so I just slept it off.

Saturday, Miguel Linda and I drove to St Raphael in Miguel's car, and then took a train to Antibes because I wanted to go see the Picasso Museum there. It was probably only 1/3 Picasso, but it was still worth going i would say. I got in trouble for taking photos lol.. so when i post my pictures, know that they were illegally taken =) I really liked Antibes. Might be my favorite town around this area. We spent most of our town in the "old town" part, bought gelato cause it was actually a very warm day and strolled along the port admiriing all of the really nice boats. I took lots of pictures of the port cause you had the port in the foreground, then in the back ground, you could see the snow covered alps. and a fortress. It was pretty. At about 500. we all received texts from Elena saying that she was really bored.. We felt bad for not having included her ( eventhough it was all very last minute), so we came home and told her to meet us at my house. When we got home though, we realized that NONE of our lights were working. The electricty was. Like the TV, the stove, our ONE lamp, ...... but our overhead lights wouldnt work. So, we ordered pizza and watched a movie. Elena ended up having a sleepover at our house lol. We put the matress top on the floor in the den and she slept down here with me. It was kinda fun lol. Then ,the next morning, she got up around 930 and went home.

Sunday, I spent most of my time doing counted cross stitch. I have a new pet-peeve and that is when i have to do counted cross stitch in either white or light grey... because it takes all this effort, but really, you can't tell you did ANYTHING when youre done. Then , like i said, Linda and I watched that movie together ( we fixed the electricity too btw) and at around 9, i decided to take a shower. While I was in the shower, i noticed how DISGUSTING it had gotten , so I cleaned that right when I got out of the shower. Then , I decided to clean the sink, then the toilet.. . and before I knew it, it was like midnight and i was cleaning everything in sight.... But our house REALLY needed it. Our countertops are blue, so you cant really tell if they are dirty... but ew, they were. The only reason i stopped cleaning was because Erin got home ffrom his baseball game around 1130 or 12... and so I started talking to him. I was wired. so, I stayed up until 3am talking to him. That was like the most i think weve talked since before Dad came to visit . Usually, we talk like for 30 min in the morning (his morning) before he goes to class/baseball/ etc.. and MAYBE if im still awake at my midnight, we talk. He schedule is so crazy right now cause of dumb baseball. BUT their team is doing really well... i think they are like 17-4. And Erin has gotten TWO wins this season so far... and its not even halfway over. So proud!

So, that was my weekend. Four more weeks left of actual lesson plans. My last week ... the only week iIteach in April (the 19-23) I am giving my students a survey... i want to collect data on french youth so i can put it all together and give it as a culture lesson to my AMERICAN students when i come back, I also want to go ask the cinema if they would give me or let me purchase any of their movie posters... i thought they could be cool for classroom decoration. I added it on my to do list to go ask. Normally, i am one of those people who make "to-do" lists almost every day. However, I have sorta been slacking since Erin left after december. Last night, though, i made several to do lists. One for things i have to do before i come home ( here in France) and one for everything I have to do when i get home ( in the US)... its kinda stressful how much is on there, but..... I got it. No big deal lol. I do sit ups when i get stressed. Im not a runner... so ... in order to release stress, i try to do sit ups.. if my neck doesnt hurt. I gotta make sure i look good in a bathing suit IF EVER GET TO ACTUALLY GO TO THE BEACH. You know, ive lived here over 5 months, and i still have never gone to the beach in a bathing suit. I brought THREE bathing suits with me- that was Clearly unnecessary.

Alright, well i think that is all for now. Love to all and Gros bisous! ( and Catherine, you prob wont read this til you get back home but ... im glad youre in Europe...!!! at least youre closer to me now than you were when you were in Memphis). lol.

  1. I think Erin might appreciate this.

I really wouldn't go to the beach. Not a good idea. But if you do... go with some friends and cover up with a towel or something. Of course this is your Father taking. But I just don't trust French men. I certainly trust you. You are top shelf. It's the other guy (as in male) that I don't trust. Of course, these are words that are written by a loving overprotective father.

  2. Yay Munchkin', you are top shelf! Is that the same top shelf that dad had tumble down on the floor when he was visiting? Good weekend it sounds like. FUN! I was hoping you would share why you were so mad last Friday afternoon. Anyway, I would be interested to hear what kind of survey you give your kids and what their responses are - good idea.

    Love you -
    Aaron
